Just got back from a trip to Eugene and Bend, OR. When I think of a running camp I can’t help but think of “Track Town USA” – Eugene, OR. My regular routine in high school after cross country or track practice was to throw on “Fire on the Track” -a documentary of the legendary Steve Prefontaine. Then the movies came out “Prefontaine” and “Without Limits” and his popularity soared even more.
What better way to honor him and his influence on US distance running then to grow a gigantic mustache? I did – and I ran on Pre’s trail, checked out Hayward field and visited where he passed away at Pre’s rock. It was a bucket list of mine and not only was I able to do that but also scout out some logistics on a future running camp in 2016.
After Eugene, I made my way over to Bend, OR for Wattie and Heather Jackson’s wedding. It’s the second time I’ve visited there and I always thought maybe I overreacted on how great of a place it was the first time. Well, after spending four days there – I have to say it’s even better then I thought. A brewery and coffee shop on every corner, miles and miles of single track, gorgeous open water swim venues. It’s an Endurance Camps paradise!
Well, we are two weeks away from our first camp. I’m ecstatic on how well the business has been received from friends, family and strangers. My roll out strategy is going right to plan and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Endurance Camps.
I am currently partnering up with coaches all around the US to host camps in 2016. If you are a coach or know of a coach that would be interested in partnering up for a four day camp at their hometown with great pay, please send them my way at endurancecamps@gmail.com.
